Subway Observation of the Day

Where: N train from Brooklyn to Manhattan

When: Around noon

What: Middle-aged man clad in earthtones sitting quietly across from me. He clutched a 8"x6" soft black pleather case which was covered in a large red sticker rimmed in silver glitter and bearing the sentence, "I believe in GOD" in a large yellow font.

Yes, I believe you. Your sticker is more convincing than the homemade T-shirt bearing messages of faith which a stranger showed me (after whipping off his parka and sweater on the Delancey Street platform at 1am).
