Dark and Mysterious, That's Me

I've been called "really positive" "inspirational" "cheerleader," by three different people the past few days. Is that a compliment? Like that Cameron Crowe-alike teenage music writer from Almost Famous, I think of myself as a dark, pessimist with hidden depths.

My friends and I made fun of the cheerleaders in high school. And now I am one? Oh dear. Must get in touch with my angsty side.

My New Favorite Word

My favorite word for the past 6 or so months was kaka.

Now it is spank. Have noticed that I'm using it more frequently in my writing (i.e. posts on facebook, bocce team's website) -- it's even snuck into my speech one or two times at work.

Why spank? Why not.

Neglecting You

Dearest blog,

Yes, I've been neglecting you lately. I've been sucked into the joy of Facebook and haven't had time to post something intelligent after superpoking my friends. I'm not sure why I resisted setting up an account for years now that I have experienced the fun of throwing sheep at friends.

What have I been up to lately? I've just escaped a day and a half working in Times Square with three mosquito bites, the taste of greasy lunch in my mouth, visions of middle-aged male armies wearing light blue dress shirt and dark slacks marching down Broadway, and a head full of words like "interactive engagement," "2 legit 2 widget"and "misfit content." Stayed out way too late on a school night last week and paid for it big time the next morning. Successfully found a place to dance to dark 80s music without getting groped.

More to come.

Lonely Busker in Park Slope

Huge guitar-playing teddy abandoned between 6th and 7th avenues in Park Slope, Brooklyn.

I wonder if it found a good home.
